Studio and Location Recordings and Mixing

In democratically alphabetical order:

Abstract Source: I'm Jules Dickens' mix engineer for his Electro/dance work with Abstract Source.

Sophia Ackerman: I got into Cream to record and mix this lovely soprano. She is definitely en route to shake some trees in the classical world.

Angels’ Share: I’ve made two recordings with this bunch. They’ve been together for 10 years, performing irresistibly foot-stomping celtic music. We recorded an album at Sensible Music, and a single for charity at the Northampton Police Headquarters – you couldn’t make it up.

Prince Azim of Brunei: Yes, this younger son of the ruler of Brunei is a bit of a crooner, and I recorded and mixed him at Sensible Music.

Steve Beresford: A contemporary composer and musician who challenged me by playing everything from a comb to a biscuit tin.

Deborah Bonham: I’ve had the great pleasure of working with the Bonham band on and off for some years now, most recently doing the live recording and mix of their performance at the Malta Blues and Wine Festival for a DVD release. I also mixed the band’s tribute concert to Ronnie Lane at the Royal Albert Hall.

Boy On The Roof: We holed up in The Bunker for the day to record a very energetic EP. We then mixed it at The Sonic Cuisine.

The Breath of Life: A Belgian goth band (yes really) – mixed their live album.

Alfred Brendel: Recorded this remarkable pianist live at The Wigmore Hall, BBC studio.

Alexandra Burke: Recorded Alexandra's amazing voice at RAK Studio 2 and you can hear the result on the "Overcome" Deluxe Edition.

Mark Butcher: Yes, the cricket star is a knock out guitarist, singer, songwriter. We went into the Stoneroom and recorded his "Song from the Sunhouse" album there. Roy Martin on drums, Derrick McIntyre on bass, Matt Taylor on guitars, Johny Dyke on keys, Tracy Graham and Anna McDonald on BVs made this a blissful journey indeed.

The Buzzcocks: Recorded their 30th anniversary show at The Forum.

Casbah Club: Pete Townshend’s talented younger brother Simon fronted this band with former Jam bassist Bruce Foxton and Big Country/Procul Harum/Cult drummer Mark Brzezicki. I’ve had the pleasure of working with the band in various capacities, and recorded and mixed much of their debut “Venustraphobia” album.

Crouch End Festival Chorus: Recorded their performance of Arvo Pärt’s “Credo” and Hector Berlioz’ “Grande Messe des Morts” at Westminster Central Hall.

Alan Darby and Geoff Dugmore: Legendary session musicians who’ve worked with everyone under the sun. I recorded some songs they’d written for the new Johnny Hallyday album at The Stoneroom.

Philippa Davies and The Leopold String Trio: Recorded their rendition of Mozart’s Flute Quartets at The Wigmore Hall.

Death Cats: We recorded the vocals at The Stoneroom and mixed the EP at The Sonic Cuisine.

Delta Unit: I mixed their EP here at The Sonic Cuisine.

Dirty Pretty Things: Spent a couple of very long days and nights at Sensible Music recording these guys with resident engineer Jon Moon.

Mo Foster: We spent a lovely and creative day at the Sonic Cusine, mixing the new bonus track, "Puddy's Theme", for there-mastered "Time To Think" album. We also went into RAK's Studio 2 to record 5 songs for a new musical based on the wonderful Jean De Florette films. Mo produced and played guitar and the session A-list did the rest; Chris Lawrence, Mitch Dalton, Corrina Silvester, Greg Knowles, Julian Littman, Chris Haigh and Karen Bates. Ray Russell arranged the strings for the main theme, which we recorded at British Grove on the EMI REDD.51. Most recently I mixed a track for Mo's latest album "Bass Themes".

The Frolick: We recorded The Frolick's live performances on location in Banbury and Esher and mixed the tracks for the promo DVD at The Sonic Cuisine. The Frolick's lutenist, Andrew Maginley, and myself are currently scouting venues to record his new solo album.

Ichinchilla: We currently working at the Chilla Villa on a new album centered around motorbikes, big engines and high octane. Get ride for a cool ride.

Yusuf Islam: Recorded the delightful artist formerly known as Cat Stevens at The Old Vic.

Beverly Knight: I mixed a new version of Run-DMC's Sucker MCs for the Red Rhythm production team, with Beverly duetting with Reverend Run. Done at RAK's studio 4.

The Kooks: Recorded them over two nights at The London Astoria.

Ann Malone: How often does a sound engineer get to record a brand new instrument? Ann Malone plays the Hang (pronounced ‘hung’), a remarkable instrument developed in Switzerland. It looks rather like a flying saucer and is currently extremely rare. We’ve had some serious fun capturing Ann’s wonderfully relaxing and spiritual compositions at The Stoneroom, Gearbox's White Rooms and Cream.

Melanie C: I got to record Melanie's stunning voice several times at RAK, in studio 4.

New Model Army: The guys from NMA asked me to re-mix one of their songs for the 30th Anniversary Anthlogy. An honour indeed.

N.Y.J.O (National Youth Jazz Orchestra): I recorded this lot at the Cockpit Theatre, Studio 2. Amazing talent.

Pino Palladino: I first met Pino on one of The Who tours, so I was extremely pleased when I got called into RAK to record his bass for Dione Bromfield under the watchful eye of producer Paul O'Duffy.

Praying Mantis: The guys decided to re-record some of their early NWOBHM hits. So we went into SNAP studios and put the Neve through its paces. We then headed back to the Sonic Cuisine to mix and master.

Ann Peebles: I recorded this soul legend in a stunning performance of “I Can’t Stand the Rain”, as a duet with Deborah Bonham. I even got to play John Bonham’s gong on it.

Elliott Randall: RAK's studio manager calls us the A-Team. I record and mix for Elliott. We filmed and recorded a few short demo movies for Electro-Harmonix. We aslo monopolised RAK's studio 1, 2 and 4 to record and mix a fabulous album for John McKeown, with Elliott producing and playing guitar. Good friends of Elliott's who joined us on the album included, Ralph Salmins, Adam Phillips, Hugh Wilkinson, Arnulf Lindner, Peter Murray, Pete Zorn and Basil Meade's LCGC. We went to SARM's studio 1 to record the horns and the strings. Elliott has just released his brand new solo album "Heartstrings". Pure passion and very analogue, recorded at ELZ Music and The Sonic Cuisine

Snail: Another interesting combination of legendary musicians including guitarist Jon Klein (Siouxsie and the Banshees, Talvin Singh, Sinead O’Connor), bassist Matthew Seligman (David Bowie, Thomas Dolby, Softboys) and drummer Chris Bell (Spear of Destiny, Big Country, Thompson Twins, Hugh Cornwell). Recorded parts of their eponymous album, some on location on the road and some at Fortress Studios.

Specimen: We locked ourselves into The Doghouse studio by the river Thames for a long day and recorded 4 tracks, which are now being mixed at The Sonic Cuisine.

Stiff Records: Did some demos with Chas Jankel for the music biz legend Dave Robinson at Stoneroom.

Roger Waters: Since Pink Floyd is one of my favourite bands of all time, I was thrilled to do some tape transfers of The Wall and The Final Cut at Sensible Music. I also had fun recording the sound of a match striking for Roger’s Dark Side Of The Moon tour…. In star quad!

Wenge: World music superstars from the Congo who occupied a great deal of my time at Sensible. There were loads of them. It was a very good thing I speak French.

Hayley Westenra: I got to record and mix a fantastic demo for New Zealand's Soprano at The Stoneroom.

Hugh Wilkinson: Hugh puts a capital P in Percussion. I'm his recording and mix engineer for his library work for KPM. We're currently working on a Latin album and a play along vibraphone jazz album.
