Hi there fellow audio enthusiasts!
Time for a news update from The Sonic Cuisine.
In my last newsletter I promised to give you a little more info on the album I did with Elliott Randall at RAK studios.
We mastered John McKeown’s “Things Worth Fighting For” album here at The Sonic Cuisine and this gem will be released in September.
In the mean time we headed back to our beloved RAK studios to record a B-side to John’s single “Fade Away”. “ These Are The Times” was recorded and mixed on studio 2’s API in under 9 hours. Keep an eye out for the single release on 31st August.
I took some time out of the studio to do Front of House for Specimen. The Batcave took place at the Embassy club this year where Specimen topped the bill, supported by Sexbeat.
We all trained it over to Waregem in Belgium to play the goth festival there and followed that with another headline slot at the Fano Moonlight festival.
With a nice stretch of live shows under their belts, Specimen went back into the studio to stick some of the old tunes in a fresh jacket.
We set up in the Doghouse Studio for the day and recorded 4 tracks which I’m now mixing back here in The Sonic Cuisine.
The most recent mix project is a 5 track EP for Delta Unit. Go and check them out on Myspace.
On the mastering front The Sonic Cuisine has seen some very cool action.
My colleague Nat Chan introduced me to the guys from New Model Army and we mastered their brand new album “Today Is A Good Day” here.
Tom Dalgety who mixed Specimen’s “Alive at the Batcave” has been working with Simon Allen and we’re mastering Simon’s “Hundreds & Thousands” at The Sonic Cuisine.
All this eclectic work has instigated a few new acquisitions.
So, in addition to the recent MiniMassive arrival (check out the Audio Pro International review!), The Sonic Cuisine has installed SSL’s new XLogic Superanalogue X-desk, a Moogerfooger Low pass and URS’s complete bundle.
Old School and New School combined... the best of both worlds.
Stay tuned and in tune and see you on the other side of the glass.
Wes
