The Wesonator December 2009 Newsletter

Hello my festive fellow Audio Heads!

How quickly time flies when you’re having fun in The Sonic Cuisine.

RAK Studios saw some more of me when I was asked to work with the guys from Red Rhythm.  We locked ourselves away in the lovely studio 4 to record Melanie C’s stunning vocals on the Run-DMC track “Walk This Way”.  We also mixed “Sucker MCs” with Beverly Knight guesting.

The Sonic Cuisine has been vibing with all sorts of cool projects.  I’ve mixed a track for a new dance outfit, called The Love Express.  Old School mixing techniques for modern day material.

Ueber director and producer Neville Farmer asked me to mix the sound for a short film he’d made for Sunderland’s 2018 Host City Bid.  The good news - they won the bid!

We’re on the home stretch for finishing the mixing of Delta Unit’s EP.  If you missed their debut at The Bull & Gate, check out their MySpace for more dates.

Elliott Randall’s released a few more stunning performances in his Couch Video series and we’ve been working away on some lovely material, so keep your eyes and ears peeled.

On the mastering front I’ve had the pleasure of doing more work for the amazing Paul Fleisher.  His brand new “That Bridge, A New York Story” album is a true gem.

The guys from New Model Army decided to release the “Today Is A Good Day” album we mastered here, on 2-disc vinyl.  I tell you, it’s an amazing experience to hear your work coming back from these black magic discs!  All hail analogue.

Which brings me nicely to some of the reviews I’ve been writing for Audio Pro International.  When we installed the SSL XLogic Superanalogue X-Desk in The Sonic Cuisine, I was so impressed that I had to review it.  Simon Saywood from AnalogueTube sent me his AT-101 for review.  I used it on several projects and I really didn’t want to give it back!  Check it out, it is superb.

And you know me, life wouldn’t be fun without a healthy chunk of FOH work.

In the last couple of months I’ve had the pleasure and the honour to work with Hugh Cornwell, Chris Bell and Caroline Campbell in Lithuania, Elliott Randall, Ralph Salmins, Jeff Spencer, Adam Philips, Peter Murray in London, Specimen in Germany, Delta Unit in London and Exit Ten in Brighton.

One more thing before I let you enjoy the festivities... Debbie and I got married in November.  Thanks to all who were there and to all the amazing talent who got up on stage.  What a night!

Happy Christmas and all the best for 2010, it’s going to be a stellar one.

Keep everything lined up, your azimuth in check, your zeroes and ones well below clipping  and see you on the other side of the glass.

Wes
